Deccan Odyssey is a special luxurious train modeled on the opulent Palace of Wheels. The train is a joint venture between the Maharashtra Government and the Ministry of Indian Railways to promote tourism in Maharashtra. Maharashtra is a diverse and large state. Deccan Odyssey aims to be a 5-star hotel on wheels. The train has 21 coaches out of which the train has 12 passenger cars. The other coaches are used for different purposes such as dining (2 coaches), conference, bars, gym, parlor, and spas. Each coach is tastefully designed to emulate different royal eras in Maharashtra.
Destinations covered by Deccan Odyssey Train
The train runs for 35 weeks in the year. Deccan Odyssey starts from the Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus in Mumbai on a Wednesday. The journey terminates one week later on Wednesday.The week-long journey shows the best of Maharashtra. Guests can go travel through the magnificent Western Ghat, the untouched Konkan region, the Deccan Plateau, and west-central Maharashtra. Besides Maharashtra other states like Delhi, Gujarat, and Rajasthan are also covered. Passengers are treated to the massive diversity in terrain, history, and cities.
